Newborn Portraits

  1. How long is the photo shoot?

The photo shoot typically lasts 10 to 15 minutes.

  2. When will my photo shoot take place?

We generally photograph all babies on their first day in the hospital. However, it’s also possible for your shoot to take place the day before discharge. We usually don’t schedule photos on the day of discharge unless there is a medical reason for the delay.

  3. My partner won't return to the hospital until late in the day. Can the session be done then?

We encourage all present family members to participate if available during the scheduled shoot. However, we may not be at the hospital late in the day. We’ll do our best to accommodate your schedule as much as possible.

  4. Should we bring a special blanket?

We encourage you to bring a favorite baby blanket or a cherished item from home, like a small stuffed animal, for the shoot. A beautiful blanket can add texture, color, and sentimental value to your newborn’s photos. If you don’t have one, we’ll use the hospital’s classic white sheets instead.

  5. How can I prepare for the shoot?

We love incorporating parents’ hands into the photos. To prepare: Wear clear or neutral nail polish. Remove any distracting jewelry to keep the focus on your baby. Bring a dark-colored shirt to wear in the photos, as solid, dark colors look great in both color and black-and-white prints. If your baby arrived earlier than expected and you don’t feel prepared, that’s perfectly okay. Babies come when they’re ready, not when we are. This time is precious, so don’t hesitate to join the photos as you are. We’ll work our magic to capture this special moment beautifully.

  6. My baby is in the NICU, can I still have a photo shoot?

Absolutely! We can’t wait to celebrate your little one’s NICU graduation. Once your baby is medically ready, we look forward to taking their photos. Just let your nurse know you’re interested in Bella Baby pictures and sign the consent form.
